Rest week

My body has been aching. So I decided to take some advice and rest a bit. I have had a few days off and today I went for a 27km ride. I had forgotten how many hills there are coming up from Friend Road to the Lady Charlton corner. And I forgot to put on sunscreen. Pity this isn't me - there is more of me than that. And the map shows the fastest bit down past Aunty Mary's place and that was not the case. The fastest part was down Broughton St hill. It always is.

The Starting Point

The idea for a journey began a long time before.
One day was the mantra.
Well, one day is getting closer.
Retirement is getting closer.
The countdown is on.

How am I , at 100 kilos and not very fit going to manage to bike thousands of kilometers?
Just thinking about it makes my body ache, my knees hurt, my shoulders tense.

Answer: join the gym, start biking.
So that's what I did.

Keeping on.

I have been going to the gym regularly. I have discovered that many classes are FREE to members. That's me I thought.  I have coped.  Not too much pain. Until today!  Oh my aching hammies.  And I have lost absolutely no weight despite all this extra work. I have even foregone my usual bikkies.  Oh the sacrifice!
